The Short Version

Wisp is a zero-knowledge, offline vault. Your files exist only on your device, encrypted with codes only you know. That is the entire point of the app — and it means we cannot recover anything for you. You are solely responsible for remembering your codes and keeping backups. The developer is not liable for any loss of data, however it occurs. If you don't agree with that, please don't use the app.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and the developer of Wisp Vault (“Wisp,” “the app,” “we,” “us”), reachable at Contact@wispdev.uk. By downloading, installing, or using Wisp Vault, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. What Wisp Is (and Isn't)

Wisp is an Android application that stores photos, videos, files, audio, notes and passwords in an AES-256 encrypted vault held entirely on your own device. Wisp has no servers, no user accounts, and no ability to access, view, reset, or recover anything inside your vault.

Wisp is a consumer privacy tool. It is not a guaranteed-secure system, a backup service, an archival service, or a substitute for keeping copies of important files. No software can promise absolute security.

3. Your Responsibility for Your Data

This is the most important section of these Terms. By using Wisp you acknowledge and agree that:

⚠️ In plain terms: any loss of data while using Wisp — for any reason, including bugs or defects in the app itself — is your responsibility, and you agree the developer is not liable for it. Wisp reminds you of this during onboarding, and using the app constitutes your ongoing acceptance.

4. Licence to Use the App

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Wisp on Android devices that you own or control, for your own lawful, personal use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the app except where such restriction is prohibited by law.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Wisp to store or handle any content that is illegal in your jurisdiction, including content that infringes the rights of others. You are solely responsible for the content you place in your vault and for complying with all laws that apply to you. We have no ability to see your content and no obligation to monitor it.

6. Subscriptions, Purchases & Refunds

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Wisp is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or absolutely secure. Encryption reduces risk; it does not eliminate it.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you; in that case liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the developer harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the app, or your breach of these Terms.

10. Privacy

Wisp is built to know nothing about you. How the app handles data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

11. Changes to the App and These Terms

We may add, change, or remove features at any time, and may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Material changes will be signposted where reasonable (for example in the app or on this page). Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using Wisp at any time by uninstalling it (note: this permanently deletes your vault). We may suspend or terminate the licence granted to you if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 3, 7, 8 and 9 survive termination.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live.
